
Whether it be for or against gay marriage, hate crime protection, or religious freedom, one major thing most Americans don’t think about are the future consequences of denying one minority or group the same basic rights.
We have come along way protecting people from atrocities like eugenics and religious persecution, but, if we amend the constitution to deny one group the same rights the majority of Americans enjoy, are we not opening the door later to allow another majority to take away any other civil liberty written in the constitution, or are we protecting our future freedoms?
