Twas the night before health care!
December 13th, 2009
Twas the night before healthcare, when all through the house
Not a republican was willing, not one of them louse!
Their wallets were hung by the chimney with care;
In hopes that rich lobbyists would soon be there!
The children were all dying in their hospital beds,
While visions of transplant denials danced in their heads.
And mamma with her tissue, and I taking off my cap,
Was watching poor Timmy drift into his eternal nap.
When out in the lobby, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the hospital room to see what was the matter.
To the nurses station I flew like a flash
I asked the head nurse, “What the hell was that?”
With the smell of fresh printed money
Gave the luster of bailouts from the taxpayer loot
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a little caravan, of eight golden parachutes.
With a fat leader, so greedy and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Capitalist.
More rapid than vultures his coursers they came
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now Aetna!, now AIG! Now, Wellpoint and Allstate! On Unum! On Conseco! On United Health care and State Farm!”
As the ink still runs on the claims of the wild hurricane still dry,
When the people met the obstacle of denials that stacked to the sky,
So to the billing department the coursers they flew,
With the caravan of insurance companies, and St. Capitalist too!
And then, in a twinkling, I heard from the roof,
The clicking and pawing of denial stamps from each of their fat little hoofs.
As I shook my head in disbelief, I barely had time to turn around
When down the hall St. Capitalist came with a bound.
He was dressed in fine linens, from his head to his shoes,
And his clothes were made at Asian sweatshops too!
A bundle of denial stamps he had flung on his back,
What a prick, he only came for that?
He was chubby and plump, what a mean old elf!
And I cringed when I saw him, thought I was going to be sick I told myself
A wink of his eye and a flick of his middle finger
Soon gave me to know, I had much more to dread
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work
He filled all the wallets with fat lobbyist checks, all I could think was “What a jerk”!
And one more flick of his middle finger right in front of my nose, he gave a nod, and up the elevator he rose!
He sprang to the golden parachutes; to his team he gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like 8 nasty vultures.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of site,
“Many denials to all, and to all, a painful death”
Should we just shoot the sick and be done with health care reform?
November 24th, 2009
I just don’t get it with many Americans and these so called “conservatives” when it comes to the health care problems many people are having in this country.
First off, many of the naysayers who are against the current health care reform probably have never been sick, nor have they ever been bankrupted due to a serious medical catastrophe. These same people have no idea how inadequate their health insurance really is and will be in for some shock when they go to use the plan, how quickly they can be denied services or cancelled outright.
I also love how these same people try to blame the person who is sick that is somehow their fault, whether it is the way the eat, maybe their problems stem from drug use, or just the fact that the person was to lazy to get an education and get out and get a good job. How ironic they use the same excuses when they in fact have no clue what the persons education level is, how hard they may have worked, how much they have put into the bank to retire on, etc, etc, etc.
As a 3 time cancer survivor, a well educated American, and someone who had (with a dual income) just less than $200,000 per year income with close to $100,000 in the bank with so called “excellent” health care benefits, how quickly I learned how broken our entire health care system really is. All that money we had in the bank was gone within a few short months, I was completely disabled, 401K drained, and denied any state benefits, even though I had paid into the system for many years.
After almost 2 years of needing medical services, not one company wanted to hire me because of the cost risk when it came to supplying me with health care benefits. My rates went from $180 per month to $2,500 per month and that did not cover any cancer or heart care whatsoever. Tell me, which corporation do you know could afford this extra monthly expense, and how many people do you personally know that could afford a health care premium of $30,000 per year?
The only thing I am really hearing from the republicans is that they want to cap all lawsuits which will take away the citizens right in a court of law, especially for those who truly have the right to sue. They want to keep an unregulated market protected while the citizens of this country are bent over time and time again, and complain that socialism is taking over this country. They are screaming death panels, and many other lies just to stop any type of health care reform that will actually help the American people.
In the richest country in the world, we can find money for war after war after war, we can find money for almost anything, but we cannot find a dime to help the American people with health care reform. Let me ask you how much money you think this country wasted fighting health care reform, or better yet, trying to impeach Clinton for a sexual act? Boy, sure do have the money for that, but nothing for the tax payers.
Since the republicans seem to be nothing more than war mongers, maybe we should just start picking up the sick people and let them be used for target practice! That right there will not only save this country billions of dollars, it will also allow these conservatives to have their much needed bloodshed, and maybe then, with mommy gone, the family can go ahead and purchase the family a Thanksgiving Day turkey, save their home, or maybe buy their kids a Christmas gift this year.
